Quick Facts About OQ Nails & Spa

OQ Nails & Spa has both strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. It is important to analyze these comments to form a comprehensive understanding of the business.
Starting with the strengths, OQ Nails & Spa has received positive feedback for their nail technicians' skills. Commenters mention specifically Kevin and Kristy, the owners, as being talented and providing great service. This indicates that the salon has competent staff members who are capable of delivering satisfactory results.
Another strength mentioned is the quality of pedicures offered by the salon. Customers appreciate the pedicures and believe they are worth recommending, highlighting OQ Nails & Spa's ability to provide a good experience in this aspect.
Furthermore, some commenters express positive experiences with OQ Nails & Spa in the past. This suggests that the salon had a good reputation and delivered quality service at some point, indicating that the business has the potential to provide a positive experience.
However, based on the comments, there are several weaknesses that need to be addressed. The most prominent issue mentioned is the declining quality of service. Multiple customers complain about the deterioration in service over time, with nails breaking easily, designs becoming sloppy, and nails not matching the reference pictures. This indicates a lack of consistency and attention to detail, which has led to dissatisfaction among customers and a decline in the salon's reputation.
The issue of customer service is also raised in the comments. Several commenters mention rude behavior from the staff members, with instances of eyerolling and disrespectful treatment. This reflects poorly on the salon's professionalism and creates a negative experience for customers.
In terms of pricing, there are concerns about inconsistency and potential overcharging. Some commenters mention confusion about the total cost of services, with discrepancies between the requested designs and the ones provided. This lack of clarity regarding pricing can lead to customer frustration and dissatisfaction.
Another issue raised is the lack of cleanliness and potential health code violations. One commenter mentions that the salon reuses plastic bags for pedicures, only replacing them if a customer is watching. This raises concerns about proper sanitization practices and demonstrates a potential violation of health codes.
Overall, OQ Nails & Spa has strengths in terms of talented nail technicians and the quality of their pedicures. However, the decline in service quality, issues with customer service, pricing inconsistencies, and potential health code violations are significant weaknesses that need to be addressed. By addressing these areas of improvement, OQ Nails & Spa can work towards enhancing customer satisfaction and rebuilding their reputation.

i used to go here all the time but in the span of a year, the service has just been getting worse and worse. it started good, but soon the designs became sloppy, the nails started to break really easily and most recently, the nails looked like utter garbage. they didn’t look like the reference picture at all. it was supposed to be pastel cow print (the last image is the ref). i walked out today very upset, and when i called later and asked for my money back, they downright refused, and offered to fix it, but at that point, i didn’t trust them to do so. they had already messed up so much. i ended up going elsewhere to fix my nails. i will not be coming back to OQ.
I’ve been to this shop a few times out of every couple of months and this is the first and last time I’ll receive bad service. The people are nice, but if you are shy or a bit timid, I don’t recommend coming. I came in for a pedi (which was okay, I can’t complain for that) and a nude ombre. Their colors weren’t exactly my complexion so I asked if I can go for a darker brown. A lady says sure I can just pick the color. Everything was fine up until the color. I thought the ombré would be with two blended powder colors, but the white gel was put first and then the brown was airbrushed over it. Typically an ombré is two colors blended together, however, I’ve never seen color airbrushed on before. It looked sloppy to say the least but again I never complain, I didn’t want to be rude but I told her I didn’t like it. I understand if the colors wouldn’t have worked together but I wasn’t asked what type of acrylic, gel or dip I wanted or reassured during the process when I was clearly agitated and when I voiced my concern for alternatives there wasn’t much that they seem willing to do in order to fix it. As a black woman I don’t want to be a stereotype and make a fuss but this is unacceptable for $112 worth of service ($65 for this mess). There’s little hairs in the color, I asked for brown but settled for black since there was “nothing she could do” , the thickness of acrylic on each nail is different, my coffin shape was more square, and I’m positive she could tell I wasn’t happy yet nothing was offered to fix it. $112 on 3 hours of bad service I had to go to another shop down the road to fix it. I was there from 1pm to almost 4. I didn’t even have the heart to tip like usual, goes to say this place has been going downhill in quality and I unfortunately would like to never return.
I’ve been wearing acrylic nails for many years and each time I move to a new area, it is so very difficult to find an accomplished nail tech. After two other salons, I chose OQ which was a good decision. Kevin, who is an owner, always does an amazing job. I’m particular about my nails and my nails look absolutely beautiful when I leave the Salon. He takes great care to make sure everything
is perfect. I also have my pedicures done at this Salon. I especially like my pedicures done by Kristy, who is the other owner.
OQ Nails In DeKalb: they reuse the plastic bags for pedicures and they only change and replace if the customer is watching! The bags are never dry when I come in! It’s a Major health code violation! They change the price from what they told you at the beginning, after your service is done for a standard service! They’re dirty, sneaky, and have horrible customer service. They talk to their customers any which way they want. I gladly will choose a new place who’s pedicure buckets are properly sanitized, and who don’t change the price on you after you receive the service for a standard service! Go to Whitney’s Love in Aurora you will be better off. Sigh
I really want to love this place because it’s close to home. The amount of attitude the lady had was outrageous, I normally get my side nail cut down during my pedicures and she went on and on how I’ll bleed. I’ve been getting my nails done for 20 years I’ve never had anything like that happen before. Then she’s doing a French tip but left specks of old polish on. I had to ask her to get it all off because it’s just a clear cut going on over it. She rolled her eyes at me for that one. Awful experience and I do NOT recommend. Oh and she did make me bleed by clipping my cuticle on my finger.
Over the couple of years that OQ has been here they have become my favorite nail shop in the area. However as of late the customer service has been lacking and as a regular customer I feel like this instance should have been handled differently. I was overcharged for my nails because the tech was frustrated . Instead of admitting he wasn’t comfortable he gave me poor service. My nails are shaped horribly and have rough edges. I really like the owners but quantity over quality has been the norm as of late.
Usually, I have nothing but good things to say about this salon. This time around, after not having my nails done for a few months, I’m really disappointed. Not only am I disappointed with the design I was given, but disappointed in the confusion about the total cost of the service. The design I requested vs the design I was given… there’s a drastic difference. The little ghosts done on my nails really look quite odd and rushed.
In terms of the payment, I have been coming to this salon for as long as I’ve lived in dekalb, so I know how much the service usually costs. Once my nails were finished, the tech tried to get me to pay $73.00 for an acrylic, coffin shaped set. With cash, acrylics cost $45.00. The tech said that since my nail is long, that’s an extra $5.00. Since the nail is coffin shaped, that another $5.00. Which is fine, but that adds up to $55.00, not $73.00. Once I questioned the price, she said I could pay $59.00 but I have to make sure I include tip in the payment. I’ve never had that particular tech before and usually I’m very happy with the service I get here, but after this experience I’m most likely going to go elsewhere.
Kristy and Kevin are amazing owners andI just had Cindy do my nails…she’s very good! And you cannot beat their pedicures!
